Speaker biographies

Paul Craven, Behavioural Economics Expert

Paul founded Paul Craven Partners in 2014 with the specific aim to promote Behavioural Economics in business, believing that a better understanding of psychology – how real people make real decisions in the real world – provides a strong competitive advantage to those firms and individuals who embrace it, whether in investment, sales, technology or business more broadly.
Paul is a well-known industry public speaker on Behavioural Economics, and as well as giving keynote talks including at TEDx, offers private consultancy and decision-making workshops.
He has almost 30 years experience in the investment industry, having retired from Goldman Sachs Asset Management at the end of 2013 after six years where he was the Head of European Institutional Business. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Paul worked at PIMCO and Schroders.

Carl Bacon CIPM, Non-Executive Chairman at StatPro

Carl Bacon CIPM is a member of the Advisory Board of the Journal of Performance Measurement, and a founding member of both the Investment Performance Council and GIPS®,Carl Bacon, joined StatPro Group plc as Chairman in April 2000. Prior to joining StatPro Carl was Director of Risk Control and Performance at Foreign & Colonial Management Ltd, Vice President Head of Performance (Europe) for JP Morgan Investment Management Inc., and Head of Performance for Royal Insurance Asset Management. Carl is a member of the GIPS Executive Committee, and ex-chair of both the Verification and Interpretation sub-committees and founder of “The Freedom Index Company”Carl is also the author of “Practical Portfolio Performance Measurement & Attribution” part of the Wiley Finance Series, “Practical Risk-adjusted Performance Measurement”, numerous articles and papers and editor of “Advanced Portfolio Attribution Analysis”

Mubin Rahimi, Head of Investment Services at National Australia Bank

Mubin Rahimi is the Head of Investment Services at Australia’s largest custodian, NAB Asset Servicing. He is responsible for the middle office function providing performance, risk and mandate compliance services to over 30 clients.

Throughout his career Mubin has led a number of investment administration functions including asset pricing and fund accounting. Prior to his current role, Mubin headed a transformation team, leveraging his subject matter expertise to improve operational processes and implement technology solutions.

Mubin graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce and also received his Master’s in Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.
